The course starts near Khon Kaen University and winds through a mix of urban and semi-rural roads. While primarily flat, the route includes long straight segments that test concentration and discipline. Runners move through university grounds, business districts and open stretches where the atmosphere can shift quickly from loud and energetic to quiet and exposed. Road quality is generally good, although heat retention in the later miles is something to factor into pacing decisions.

For runners who can handle the climate, the course offers enough structure and support to sustain a serious effort.
